How to Enable Akismet Plugin
Are you wordpress user? If yes, you must be know the Akismet plugin. Akismet is a plugin that is used to filter on comments coming into your wordpress blog. Akismet plugin will know which comments are spam and which comments are not spam. Although sometimes Akismet could be wrong, but using the Akismet plugin is the most appropriate way to handle the problem about spam comment spam. Much better than you are using CAPTCHA barrier.
For you who have a blog on wordpress.com (free blog), Akismet plugin is already there and you do not need to activate (enable) that plugin again. But if your blog is self hosted (own domain and hosting), Akismet plugin already exist (installed with wordpress) but not active yet. So you need to activate and enable this Akismet plugin.
Here is how to enable the the Akismet plugin on wordpress blog :
- Login to your Dashboard (wp-admin)
- Open the Plugins menu
- You will see there is Akismet plugin, and then click Activate to activate the Akismet plugin
Your Akismet plugin is now active, you still need to enter the API Key to use this plugin. You can get the API Key on your account on wordpress.com, it’s mean you must have an account on wordpress.com. If you dont have yet, please create an account on wordpress by create a free blog on wordpress.com.
If you finish create a blog on wordpress, here is how to get your API Key and enter your API Key :
- Still on Plugin menu, click enter your Wordpress.com API key.
- Then click Get your key (open in new tab).
- If you are not login yet (on wordpress.com) you will asked to login to view your wordpress.com profile, so please login with your wordpress account.
- After come into Dashboard (wordpress.com) open menu Users –> Your Profile
- Your API key is on the top (see picture).
- Please copy your API Key and enter the page before, then click Update Option.
That is how to activate and enable the Akismet plugin, good luck.
I dont use akismet for fighting spam but I installed si-captcha, btw thanks for your information
